Dear Mr. Hillman,

Please allow me to congratulate you and Beyel brothers on the successful removal of the 25 Ton Portal Crane from the Navy’s Poseidon Pier. Beyel Brothers performed this task ahead of schedule and within budget. Additionally, the task was performed without injury or any major incidents. NASA & KSC are a OSHA safety site.

The Navy has been trying to remove the crane for five years. Adding to the difficulty was the fact that the crane was not accessible from land, as the finger piers could not support the weight of removal equipment nor could the crane be driven off the pier, being rail mounted. The only possible solution was a water lift. This was accomplished with you 600 Ton, barge mounted, Stiff Leg Crane.

In spite of all the NASA, OSHA, SGS CCAFS, EPA and USN regulations imposed, the crane was removed, Beyel Brothers provided all necessary paperwork and performed the task in record time. Though there were many doubters, several weather and lightening delays, the project was completed well ahead of the original promise date.

Your attention to detail, constant fine tuning of the project, probably kept things from getting out of hand.

Of the various groups here at Kennedy Space Center who worked with Beyel Brothers, all were pleased with the level of cooperation and customer service focus displayed by all Beyel Brothers personnel.

SGS and I look forward to working with Beyel Brothers on other opportunities as they are presented.

Sincerely Your,

Leonard Self
